Housekeeping notes

Changes to groups: LGTG -> Attica, LGKC -> Peloponese, LGPZ -> Heptanese

WHAT I AM SUPPOSED TO SAY: The aeronautical information provided in this website is not guaranteed to be precise. Always check the relevant data via the official channels.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS PART I: If you attempt to get METARs from the official channels hnms.gr or emy.gr be advised that you might receive erroneous data. There seem to be major problems with the website of our National Weather Service in addition to not supporting encrypted http (https) and having an outdated interface. I have already tried explaining these issues to them to no avail. Airfieldweather.com receives data from multiple sources and cross-validates the data before publishing.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS PART II: If you attempt to get METAR/TAF from most free providers out there including allmetsat, metar-taf, checkwx, orbitfly, ukmetoffice or even eurocontrol you will not be able to get data for the smaller regional airports such as LGMG which are important for general aviation.

WHAT IS THIS SITE ABOUT: This site is a personal project not aiming to profit from your data. It is as minimal as it gets without ads, cookies, subscriptions, and unnecessary design features. Minimalism results in a tiny payload less than 10kb, which when delivered by the massive bandwidth of Cloudflare (DNS provider and proxy) and Amazon (host) results in extremely fast loading (0.2 seconds last benchmarked by Cloudflare). Furthermore as this webpage is primarily intended for pilots, the tiny payload assures that data can be obtained even with 2G reception "up there where the air is rarefied" as the great Frank once sung.

WHAT IS THE CATCH? There is none. If you wish to contribute financially your donation at Cancer Research UK will be appreciated.
